Epilogue

Lying in a happy, crumpled state on the beach at Gruissan Plage, having 20 minutes earlier crossed the finish line for the 18th and final time of TranseGaule 2011, I pondered for a minute between the euphoric surges of joy and the whoops of supporters as yet another happy finisher crossed the line.
“What the hell am I going to do now?”
Seems a daft thing to think when I have achieved what I set out to do and am looking forward to going home to my partner Kathryn and a bit of normal life.
I guess it’s testament to how much this race has filled my life since I returned home from it nearly 13 months previous, injured and unable to continue after just 3 days.
12 months training down the line, and a program of support from John, Christine and Mary and the demons of last years race have well and truly been exorcised.
Mmm it’s nice lying here in the sun, no running tomorrow, or the next day, or the next….........................
